Fun Fall Activities in Bucks County: The #1 Fall Foliage Destination in the Country!

With its gourmet dining, art, music, cultural scene, walkability and river fun, we are not surprised that Travel & Leisure Magazine has named New Hope as one of America’s Best Small Towns and also Bucks County the #1 Fall Foliage Destination in the US.

We couldn't agree more!

Fun Fall Activities

You should plan for at least a four-day visit to beautiful Bucks County to take it all in.  Here is a small “autumnal taste” to whet your appetite:

Covered Bridge Tour

Bucks County is one of the birthplaces of covered bridge-building in America and is known for its unique collection of these cherished timber structures sometimes called "Kissing Bridges". Take a Self-Guided Driving Tour to marvel at them and the beautiful countryside roads dressed in fall colors.  Ask your innkeeper for some yummy home baked treats to take with you on your tour.

Scarecrow in Peddler's Village during September

View 100+ Festive Scarecrows

Just a short drive from the inn, Peddler's Village celebrates Autumn with this tradition every September and October: Scarecrows in the Village. Over 100 handmade scarecrows line the brick pathways of this festively decorated, award-winning shopping and dining village. Some are inspired by famous characters, some are humorous, some are scary – but all of them are very entertaining and you can vote for your favorite scarecrows.

Your innkeepers can direct you to more super fun places for seasonal entertainment and Halloween scares in both New Hope and Lambertville, NJ including hayrides, apple or sunflower picking, making smore's around a fire, and fantastically decorated homes.

Art Galleries & Museums

You can easily spend a full day or more visiting New Hope and neiboring town's art galleries, art festivals, exhibits, museums and flea markets. Some of our favorites are New Hope Arts , Michener Art Museum, Fonthill Castle & the Mercer Museum , Grounds for Sculpture, and Aerte Gallery. Or, take a drive up river on a spectacular scenic road to arrive at Frenchtown's ArtYard and dine at a recommended gourmet restaurant.

The Fox and Hound 1840s breakfast room has a significant collection of art by a well known local artist that guests can view during their delectable breakfast each morning or throughout their day.

Outstanding Gourmet Restaurants

Dining in one of the world-class local restaurants is an important part of the bed & breakfast experience. There are over 70 nearby restaurants to choose from. Exclusively for our guests, we have a curated a list of the best restaurants that we can recommend for your preferred dining experience- river views, romantic atmosphere, best cocktail bar, BYOB, vegetarian & vegan offerings, tapas, historic buildings, American or international fare.

Cider Tasting

At Manoff Market Gardens & Cidery, you can discover the unique flavors of Bucks County’s local hand-crafted hard cider and shop homemade indulgences like locally sourced apple butter and delicious jams. The Cidery is open Monday through Saturday year-round with live music on select Saturdays.

Hiking & Biking

The Tow Path Canal Loop along the Delaware River Canal Trail is a popular trail to both hike & bike. The route is quite scenic and level enough to enjoy the views. Your innkeeprs can text you a map for your perfect fall outing.

Goat Hill Overlook is a short uphill hike for fabulous views and photos opportunities of the Delaware Valley in all its fall splendor.

Tyler State Park is only a short drive from the inn and boasts many miles of paved hiking & biking trails, one of which leads you to a historic covered bridge, but all will be draped in fall's slendor.

Peace Valley Park is a wonderful 6 mile hike or bike around Lake Galena and also has boat rentals.

Tree Trails Adventures is our newest partner where our guests can puntuate thier romantic getaway together and get their hearts pumping at this exciting eco-adventure park! Climb & zip through  a beautiful forest property while utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. This is not just an awesome experience for couples, but would be a perfect team building and bonding adventure for corporate and group events too. Please call an innkeeper directly at 215-862-5082 for our exclusive guest discounts.

Bonus: Hidden Gems

There are 48 Outdoor Sculptures throughout New Hope and Solebury that you can spot or purposefully seek out. Our B&B also participates in this exceptional public art program with a sculpture on our grounds. Program by New Hope Arts

We are thrilled to announce the installation of the first and only native wildflower meadow in New Hope, The Mary Wade Wildflower Meadow, named after my beloved grandmother, offering our guests a unique and scenic visiting experience.

As you stay with us over the next two years you will see the meadow grow and change with diverse shapes, colors, blooms and sounds. Each season will bring new colors and textures.  The meadow project includes seeding and planting native vegetation exclusive to Bucks County in a quarter-acre space in front of our historic inn.

Often described as having the perfect or "Goldilocks" location, the Fox and Hound B&B, with its 10 minute walk into town, yet nestled on 2 acres for more of a country feel, and our free and private parking right next to inn, is the perfect place for your New Hope fall getaway experience.
