Giving back to Veterans

Who is Rob Jones?

A puzzling email from Innkeeper Sara popped up on my computer early Thursday morning excitedly reporting that ‘Rob Jones’ was going to be in New Hope and we could offer him a complimentary stay.  But who is Rob Jones?

An Amazing Journey

One thing led to another and we were able to host Rob Jones for a night on his journey to cycle across the USA.  Rob Jones is a decorated Veteran Marine who lost both his legs in Afghanistan in 2010. This wonderful young man, with his regular bike and prosthetic legs, will cover more than 5400 miles over the next 9 months. It took Rob intense training to learn how to walk and to ride a bike again.

It was a busy evening at the Fox and Hound Inn as local Firemen and Police stopped by to give him patches, dinner, t-shirts, respect, and fire engine and police car escorts. The next morning after a nice hearty breakfast for everyone, more police escorts awaited him and of course his van pictured below.

Steve, Rob’s brother, follows Rob mile by mile, driving slowly as they make their way through town by town toward the next state line.

Rob Jones is a brave young man determined to give back to the military charities that helped him and to raise awareness of disabled vets. We wish you all the best on your journey!

Saying Thank You to a Brave Veteran

What an exciting way to start the weekend, hosting a veteran, and being able to give back just a little bit to say thank you for your service.

You can give directly to any of the below veteran charities by clicking on donations and you will go to the veteran charity page so that Rob can count this towards his fundraising goals.  www.robjonesjourney.com He has an insightful blog as well detailing his thoughts and adventures as he cycles from coast to coast.
